Blog Resources

This is a gathering place of materials on using blogs in the classroom.

David Warlick has put together A Student & Teacher Information Code of Ethics. Worth checking out and modifying to fit your own classroom.

The Department of Education in Western Australia has put together a list of educational uses for blogs. The site includes general items about the value of blogs in education, some subject specific uses, and some suggestions for getting started.

Another resources for best practices in educational blogging is Support Blogging. This is a wiki, and visitors are invited to learn and share their own ideas.

What is a Blog? Andy Carvin of learning.now has a great post on the origins of blogging. Be sure to read the comments; there are many good ideas for using blogs in the classroom.

Using Blogs as a Novel Approach to Engage Students Andy Carvin highlights what one teacher is doing with blogs to enhance literature discussions.

Vicki Davis, over at Cool Cat Teacher Blog, discusses 10 Habits of Bloggers That Win.

During today's MEA session we talked about finding blogs. I recommend trying Technorati. This site is dedicated to searching for blogs, so when you are looking for that knitting or tabby cat blog Technorati can help you out.

Here is the web publishing form I use. I put this letter together using examples from other school districts around the country and tailoring them to my audience.

If you know of any other good resources for using blogs in the classroom, drop me a note < mclausen(at)mcps.k12.mt.us >
